Tribute Director was born from real-world experience behind the scenes - where music, video, images and livestream support all have to work at exactly the right moment, without drawing attention away from the service itself.
It began in the booth, not in a software brief.
For years, I worked behind the scenes at funeral services, providing livestreaming, audio, video and presentation support.
Like many operators, I found myself relying on a collection of different applications to manage the media required during a service: music in one place, videos in another, slideshows somewhere else, presentation software for still images, and separate controls for the screen the family and congregation could see.
It worked, but it never felt like the right solution.
A funeral service is not the place for unnecessary complexity.
There is no second take. The person operating the technology needs to remain focused on the service - not on switching between windows, searching for files or worrying about what might accidentally appear on the main screen.

I wanted to build the application I had been looking for myself: a place where the entire service could be prepared in advance, arranged in the correct running order, previewed privately, and then delivered confidently from one screen.
